ReplyDeleteI adore the book of Shadows from Hocus Pocus! The way it interacted was so awesome! I have always believed that when you have something that you put so much of yourself into, then you form a bond of sorts with that thing. In a way, that BOS demonstrated that bond.

ReplyDeleteThe book of shadows from Practical Magic was my 2nd favourite, but "Book" from Hocus Pocus just squeaked in as my favourite. I just loved the eyeball & the character they gave what generally speaking, is usually an inanimate object.

ReplyDeleteI'd have to say that the Book of Shadows from Charmed has been my favorite. The artwork along with the penmanship on each page was just stunning. Not to mention that the Book itself was a character all it's own. I think that just makes it one of the best all around.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite would have to be this beautiful Grimoire they had in Buffy. It was soft-brown leather covered in intricate metalwork. It was beautiful and to this day I can still remember it.

ReplyDeleteI will say Professor JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion, which includes the Ainulindalë, Valaquenta and the Lay of Leithian (story of Beren and Luthien - beautiful!). Some may say the Red Book of Westmarch hehehe! ReplyDeleteMy favorite BOS is probably the one from Practical Magic! While somewhat rooted in reality, it still has that old-world charm and otherworldliness to it, even if we don't get to see it in full! A BOS with Midnight Margaritas can't be bad, right?

My first favorite was from the Sabrina the Teenage Witch movie and then show. As a kid, I remember trying to make my own. I spend hours decorating the covers of little stapled together homemade books so I could be a witch. I still have to draw and color on the cover of my book of shadows that I own today. Lol

ReplyDeleteI can't lie, my favourite BOS is my own but it's not a fiction book, on TV, on any movie, books or video games... so I must tell you, my second favorite is A Sorcerer's Cookbook: Recipes for Enchantment From Aphrodite's Oysters to Violet Bonbons by Brigitte Bulard-Cordeauthe and the third one is the BOS from the movie Pratical Magic. ReplyDeleteOhhh easy answer...Charmed BOS...their BOS was Amazing!! All hand drawn and written...they say it was the most expensive thing on the set!! I would LOVE to have something like that handed down to me...but I'm a first generation witch in my family...maybe I will have something good to handdown to my kids!! :)

I know I've seen BOS in a couple of anime series that I have watched but I've got a case of Fibro Fog and can't think of them. Although the on in Practical Magic is a favorite of mine with the three fold style. But screw the book and give me that herb room! Am I right?? Ha ha just kidding, mostly ;)
