Did We Find a Witch Bottle?! How to Make One for Protection

We might have discovered a witch bottle in our back yard!



Dan and I were doing some yard work a few days ago since the sun was out and it was a gorgeous day. Our house is over 100 years old and near the back of the property every spring Dan goes back to pick up whatever broken glass he can find. When the ground freezes and thaws over the winter it pushes up glass, bottle caps, and other items to the surface. Dan found quite a bit of glass, among the glass he found was a weird little bottle full of dirt and residue of some kind.



The lid was gone and we have some evidence that it was probably either rubber or cork and likely rotted away, but there were a couple items inside, and one of them in particular was pretty standard in old traditional witch bottles! A couple of the pieces of glass were the bottoms of bottles so I was able to do a bit of research online and have figured that much of the glass in the back of the yard is probably early 1920's, to 1940's-50's. We live in a small town, back when this house was built it was still pretty rural, so it's possible that some of the Ozark witchcraft and folk magic traditions were still in practice at the time.



I decided to do a video to share it with you guys. I’ll also show you how to make your own witch bottle for protection.  A witch bottle is a traditional method for home protection that goes back centuries, these have been found in archaeological digs in America and Europe. It’s a traditional folk magic protection spell that’s easy enough for beginners and uses simple ingredients. The witch bottle was specifically used to ward against baneful magic.

Green Man Money Jar Spell

I've wanted to do it for awhile, and I finally did it~ I'm on YouTube! This is my second video, I'm trying to manage posting every Saturday, but this one ended up being posted on Monday. My first one was a Beltane Beauty spell, you can find it on my channel. I did this video without my glasses, the reflection of the light in my lenses was a bit of a distraction. I'm shooting right now with my iPhone clipped to a floor lamp and a small selfie light up in my studio and editing in iMovie on my phone. It's not a very professional setup, but I'm not unhappy with the results. I need to get a better light. For sure. My son Tristan suggested that I get a copy of Premiere Elements for my computer, he can teach me since he has Premiere and is an editing wiz himself. So we'll see. Maybe you'll be able to watch my videos improve with time.

About the Spell

Green Man is the joyous laughing Spirit of the green woods: Here's a really easy spell to help you attract the energies of this spirit of growth and abundance to help you open up to limitless abundance and bring more money into your life. This spell was inspired by my article “The Green Man: Spirit of Abundance” published in Llewellyn’s 2012 Magical Almanac.

Free Candle Labels and Spell for the Super Blue Rowan Moon Lunar Eclipse

Are you ready for the Super Blue Blood Moon tomorrow? It's kind of a big deal and a confluence of energies that magic users can take advantage of.  In order to decide what kind of magic to do during this special day, we need to examine each of these energies in play and what they mean.

Full Moon 
We all know that the moon goes through phases over the course of 28 days. The full moon is traditionally the time of power for magic users. The moon has great energies, love, intuition, spirituality, healing and is related to the Goddess or feminine aspects of Deity. The Moon pulls the tides and also our emotions with it's cycles. The full moon is a time when it's energy and magnetic pull is at it's pinnacle. The full moon is the best time in a month to manifest and bring about big changes.

Super Moon
This Full Moon is due to be about 16 percent brighter than average and will appear larger in the sky, because it's the closest it will be to the earth enhancing the moons energy.  The super moon will exert about 42 percent more tidal force than the moon when it's at it's furthest from us. But fear not, in reality the super moon should cause no natural disasters or anything, but some bonus moon magical energy and a great show, for sure!  If you look at the moon when it's close to the horizon or through a trees branches it's easiest to see the effect because it gives your eye a point of reference. Magically work magic during a super moon to enhance all the qualities of a regular full moon.
Blue Moon
Ok, it's called a blue moon...that does not mean it's color is blue though. A blue moon doesn't refer to the color of the moon, but instead can refer to the fact that we usually have only one full moon in a calendar month, but occasionally we get a second full moon in a month and that moon is sometimes  known as a Gregorain "blue moon."  The third full moon in a season with four full moons is referred to as an Astrological or Astronomical blue moon, for a further explanation of that, click here.  They don't happen often, which is where the term "once in a blue moon" comes from. A blue moon is a moon for wishes! It's a good time to work magic that's monumental taking advantage of the unlikely appearance of a blue moon.

Lunar Eclipse
A lunar eclipse happens when the shadow of the earth passes across the full moon. You can observe something very similar to the phases of the moon, unfolding over merely a period of hours, instead of the month as usual. I say similar, because it looks different somehow, the dark section isn't black, but an otherworldly color, sometimes gray sometimes a brownish-red, which is why it's sometimes called a blood moon. The shadow as it crosses the moon is different than usual, not a sharp edge, but a bit fuzzy. From a magical standpoint, a lunar eclipse can bring about change, it is a good time for letting go of the past and unveiling something new in your life before you. 
 
Rowan Moon
According to the Celtic Tree Calendar the Jan. 31 full moon is the Rowan moon which is the full moon falling between Jan 21-Feb.17. It was believed if a traveler carried a rowan wood staff, it would offer magical protection on their journey.   Rowan wood or berries are considered a powerful protective amulet.  Rowan is associated with the goddess Bridget, music, poetry, fire, good luck and protection, and the Rowan month falls within Bridget’s sacred day of February 2, known as Candlemas or Imbolc. So this is a great full moon to work on projects such as: protection, healing and strength. 

Wow! That's a lot going on, many magical elements to work with, so it seems like a good opportunity to work some big magic. 

If you don't have something already planned for this full moon,  I have a spell for you, it's my gift to you in hopes that we can all persevere and gain strength in ourselves to the benefit of humanity.

Spell for Strength and Healing in Hard Times

What are you facing? This is a time when the world is in turmoil and sometimes we feel that the winds of change and the forces of fear and hate around us are just too much to handle. We need healing for our spirits so that we can continue the good fight. We need to keep our shields strong against forces that we feel are out of our control. We need to boost up our compassion and send out compassionate energy to the rest of the world in order to bring about the changes needed when the dust settles. Ok, that aligns with all of the energies of the powers of the 1/31/18 Full, Super, Blue, Rowan Moon! What if many of us do this spell? if we're all connected perhaps this energy will ripple out bringing more balance, protection, and healing to the world. I hope so.

I created a sigil specifically for this celestial event and magical purpose and I've included some beautiful candle labels as well. You can print the sigil included in the free download (or draw it yourself by hand) and use any of the candle labels included on your altar. To use these labels for candles simply cut them out and apply them to a jar candles or jars or candle holders for smaller votive or tea light candles using a glue stick.  Never leave burning candles unattended. The candles are a nice way to hold space for the lunar energy happening right now, you can perform this spell either at your altar with the candles or outside under the moon.

Hold the sigil included with this spell. Gaze at the moon or your lunar candles while you visualize the moon removing all fear from energy field, banishing negativity as it pours off of you and into the ground where it will be neutralized.  Feel the power of the moon filling you with it's magic, beaming it's energy down to you as you soak it up. Feel it filling you with the power of protection freeing you from fear, awakening compassion, and empowering your spirit. Now look at the sigil in your hand for a moment and then hold it to your heart as you repeat the following:

Without looking at it, crumble the sigil, state, "So mote it be!" burn the sigil in a fireproof dish, cauldron, or fireplace so that it becomes part of Spirit.

Free Spell for the Spring Equinox/Solar Eclipse/Supermoon Conjunction

It's doesn't usually happen, but this year the spring equinox falls on the same day as a solar eclipse and a new supermoon! Here's some info about the magical energies happening on that day and a free spell to help you use it to transform your life!

Spring Equinox is all about balance, it's one of two days out of the year with the same amount of hours of daytime and nighttime.  Folklore says you can balance an egg on it's end on the Spring Equinox, nope, you really can't, but the magic of balance is in the air on this day that we Witches and Pagans refer to as the Sabbat of Ostara.  Sometimes Ostara is celebrated on the actual day of the Spring Equinox, and some people prefer to celebrate it on the first full moon following the Spring Equinox, you can adjust this spell to fit your preference.

The Goddess Ostara’s (Eostre’s) celebration day can vary from the spring equinox (circa March 21) to the first full moon after the equinox. She is the Anglo-Saxon / Germanic Goddess of new beginnings, fertility, hope and renewal. It is a time of balance between day and night. Her symbols include the hare, colored eggs, spring flowers.  Do you want to light a candle to Ostara too? 

 This year, those days are one in the same, and to top it off, the Ostara new moon is a supermoon, which means the moon is in it's closest point in it's orbit to the earth, making making the magical power of the moon stronger. Not impressed? Need more?  Ok, how about a solar eclipse that begins 15 hours before the moment of the astrological moment of the Spring Equinox?  Ahhh, now astrologically speaking that's a rare occurrence for all three of these events to line up together like that.  You know what this witch is thinking, and I bet your witchiness is thinking the same thing...time to do some serious magic!

Ok, so how to plan a spell for this unique celestial event?  Well, many of us won't actually see the total eclipse, it's going over the middle of the ocean and will only be really very visible in a few remote areas but it will be partially visible in parts of Europe, Greenland, Iceland, northern Africa, the Middle East, and northwestern Asia.  So people who don't live in those areas will have to look online to see the show.

Even if we can't see it when it's happening, that doesn't mean we can't harness that energy for magic, just like we do from a new moon that we can't see, but we know is there.. We know that an eclipse happens when the earth, moon, and sun are all in alignment, in a straight line, total balance.  We know that the Spring Equinox is equal daylight and night, that means balance too.  We also know that the moon will be closer to the earth than usual, the celestial body sacred to the Goddess Ostara, Bright Lady of the Spring Equinox.  Sweeeet.  Ok, now that gives us a good idea of how to use these energies to create balance in an area of our life where we really need it!

I love how the flameless candle looks on the altar, it has a timer so I set it to come on as the sun sets every evening.  The embroidered candle wrap and altar cloth have become the centerpieces for all my seasonal altars.   See more here.

Ostara Solar Eclipse and Supermoon Balance Spell 2015

You'll need:
An empty eggshell, poke holes in the top and bottom, puncture the yolk with a toothpick and putting your mouth over one hole, blow the yolk and white together into a bowl.  Rinse it our with tap water and dry.  Never blown out an eggshell? Here's a step by step.

A small slip of paper and a pen

permanent markers or acrylic paint to decorate the egg

herbs of your choice

A place for a small outside fire, a fire pit, chiminea, or even a BBQ grill.

At least the day before the equinox, March 19, prepare your egg as described above, draw the moon on one side of the egg, and draw the sun on the other side.  On the small slip of paper write something that you want to bring balance to in your life.  A few examples could be, "I shall find the correct balance of work and fun, always having enough time to complete my work, and enough time to relax and recharge."  "I shall find a balance between soothing my spirit and eating a healthy diet, learning to eat smarter and exercise while still enjoying relaxing the special treats in moderation."  "I shall bring balance to my financial resources so that I can meet my needs and some of my wants too."

I used gold and silver paint pens for my magical egg, how will you decorate yours?

Roll up that slip of paper and push it inside of one of the holes in the eggshell.  You may add herbs for manifesting wishes inside the eggshell too.  Suggestions include dandelion petals or a bit of dandelion leaf, ginseng, pomegranate, or any herbs that correspond directly to the magical intention you've chosen. You can either charge the egg at the time you create it, or during the actual eclipse, whatever works best for you depending upon where you live and what time it will be during the eclipse.  For instance, I live in Missouri, the American Midwest, so it will be night time here when the eclipse is happening, I'm going to charge mine ahead of time and pre-program it to receive the Solar Eclipse energy.  My friends in the UK might prefer to charge it during the actual eclipse as it's happening. Just do whatever works best for you.

Hold the egg in your hands and looking at the sun drawing, repeat this charm nine times to charge it:

"Solar eclipse soon to show in the sky,
The sun, moon and earth all align,
This egg shall soak up magical power,
From the solar eclipse upon it's hour."

 When you're done, set the egg on your Ostara altar or next to a bouquet of spring flowers with the sun side up.

When the sun sets on March 20, the Spring Equinox new supermoon will rise up in the sky, you might not see it, since it's a new moon, but it's there, feel the power.  When you venture outside in the evening, light a small outside fire, even if it's in your BBQ grill, you can use charcoal or a few pieces of wood.  You may wish to dress your work space with spring flowers, candles, and symbols that you associate with the Spring Equinox,  Prepare in your usual way, grounding and centering, casting the circle, inviting the elements and deities as you usually do.  Bring your egg with you and hold it moon side up, as you feel the power of the new Ostara supermoon.  It has already been charged by the solar eclipse, now charge it by the new supermoon as you repeat this charm nine times:

"Time of balance, powerful moon,
Lady Ostara, I ask this boon,
Balance within this little eggshell,
And manifest this witch's spell."

Feel the eggshell already empowered by the alignment of the solar eclipse now fill with the power of the equinox and the magical new moon.  Cast the egg into the fire,  as you say,

"With harm to none and to the benefit of my greater good, as I will it, so shall it be."

As it burns in this world it's magical energy is transferred into the higher realm where it will manifest. Close your circle as you usually do and make sure the fire is safely out before you go back in.

If you don't have a porch or deck where you can have a small fire, you could have an equinox BBQ at a local park with public grills and quietly perform your ritual there at dusk.  If that doesn't work, you can certainly just bury your egg.

Over the next several days to the next months ahead pay extra close attention, you will receive inspirations, signs, and will discover new ways of doing things in your life that will bring balance to the situation that you placed inside the magic eggshell.

Sun Catcher Magic, Enhancing Moods In Winter

In the winter months it helps to keep the curtains open so that as much sunlight as possible can come in, it's warming and it can benefit people that suffer from seasonal depression to have the curtains and blinds open.  The view out the window in summer time is full of colors of life, greens of the grass and trees and the colorful flowers blooming everywhere. Winter however can look pretty barren, snowfall is beautiful and can brighten some people's mood but after snow has been on the ground too long under overcast skies it can become a bleak view.

Even when there's no snow, for many people the barren browns and grays of winter can really put a strain on their mood and leave your spirit feeling as dingy as a gray winter sky.  One way to break up that dull winter view is with a little color therapy.

Saint Expedite, Candles, Cake and Making it Happen

When my friend Shea gave me a beautiful Saint Expedite candle as a thank you gift for helping her out, I was positively delighted!  She told me that the candle had been made by Judika Illes, as it happens, one of my favorite go-to magical authors which made it even cooler!  I hadn't worked with Saint Expedite before, but I felt that this candle came to me for a reason, so before using it, I set out to learn more about this handsome Roman soldier that had made his way across the ages to land on my old wooden art table.

Saint Expedite is not a judgy saint, he is happy to help out people of any faith at all, so long as you offer him the proper respect and payment, he is a soldier after all, and you must pay your dues.  So what does this guy specialize in?  Well, he makes things happen, comes to the rescue, rocks out quick solutions.  He's your magical fireman who will rescue you from the metaphorical burning building.  The song, "I Need a Hero" comes to mind.  He's the patron saint of emergency situations, sailors, students, and shopkeepers.  Consider asking him for assistance when you need a quick solution to a problem.

Almost nothing is known about the life of St. Expedite, according to the various legends surrounding him, a crate arrived having been shipped from one location in the church to another containing a statue and relics of a Roman soldier, but the crate had been marked "spedito" or "Expedite" meant to be shipping instructions, but someone upon receipt mistook this instruction for his name.  Although he's not officially recognized on the  Roman Catholic Church's roster of Saints, he has become very popular and venerated all over the world among devotees who ask him for quick favors.

The symbolism behind his traditional images are fascinating to me.  The cross he holds has the word "hodie" on it which is Latin for "today."  His foot is on a crow which has the word "cras" which is how the Romans pronounced the sound of a crows caw, caw, caw sound. Cras, means tomorrow...pro CRAS tinate!  So this symbolism is perfect for getting things moving and quickly too.  Don't worry it's just a metaphorical crow, not a real one! No crows were harmed in the making of this spell candle!

How to Work With Saint Expedite

Wednesday is the best day to work with Saint Expedite.  The first rule when working with Saint Expedite is don't bother asking him to harm another, this soldier will take none of that nonsense, and you'll probably face a backfire you don't want.  Always be respectful when asking for his help, he doesn't have to help if he doesn't want to, so be sure to be polite when you ask.  To that end, he likes offerings made to him.  Choose one favor, don't overload him.

 In general, a red candle is used when asking this Saint for assistance.  He also likes offerings of flowers,  red flowers are his favorite.  I read that some cultures offer marigolds at the time of the request and then offer red flowers upon receiving the favor or help to thank this Saint.  Use a statue, picture, or holy card of Saint Expedite when calling upon him.  If you're using a 7 day candle like mine (pictured) put a glass of water on the altar as you burn the candle.  When it burns out, fill the jar candle with the water and red flowers to thank him for his help.  Pound cake is the traditional offering to thank Saint Expedite.  Be sure to buy or make a nice fresh one, and give him the first slice from the loaf, I sliced a good piece from the middle.  When the flowers and cake are no longer fresh and nice, you may put them outside, leave the remains of the cake for passing critters and compost the flowers or allow them to return to the earth. Do not place offerings in the trash, it would be disrespectful.  

The other thing that Saint Expedite appreciates in return for his quick favors is a public thank you.  You can post a thanks on social media, take out an ad in the newspaper, that kind of thing.  Whatever you do, make sure that you let the Saint know what you plan to do in thanks for his favor at the time you ask, and then be sure to follow through with your end of the bargain.  If you don't, you can loose all you gained and then some.  Roman soldiers must be payed their due.

I decided to create an oil to use for my candle when I requested his help, and I wanted to share the recipe with you.

I looked up several recipes online and came up with this version based upon several versions I found and what I happened to have in my magical cabinet.  I put it in an old oil bottle I cleaned out and made a label using an image of Saint Expedite. This oil smells wonderful!

honeysuckle oil
allspice, just a pinch
high john the conqueror root, a couple bits shaved off
sandalwood oil
amber oil

We've got some very powerful energies converging magically right now making tonight's full moon a very powerful time for magic.  Yesterday was the Summer Solstice which is of course the time of the year when the sun is at it's zenith.  The longest day of the year means the sun is at it's highest point at noon, and the period of time between sunrise and sunset is the longest of the year.  Magically during midsummer nature is at it's height of energy, Another of the energies converging right now is that tonight's full moon will be a supermoon.  The moons orbit around the earth is not a perfect circle, and once a year it ends up a bit closer to us than usual.  Tonight it will appear about 12% larger in the sky than usual.  Here is a link to a great article on the science of tonight's supermoon. On top of all of that, we are also in the Celtic month of the Oak and tonight is also the Oak moon according to Robert Grave's Celtic Tree Calendar, and the energies of Oak correspond with opening the door to opportunity, strength, wisdom and power.  Oak magic also includes luck, protection and abundance.

 Supermoon Spell to Achieve Success

I designed this spell specifically for the energies of tonight's Summer Solstice/ Oak/ Supermoon energies, but it can be altered for use during another full moon, summer solstice or during to Celtic Oak month June 10-July 7.

You will need:

• a candle, golden in color, yellow, or white.  You can use a tea light or votive candle in a small glass votive candle jar or a large jar candle.
• Printed candle label and petition sheet (click here to download) print the sheet and affix either the large or small candle label to your jar using a glue stick and have the petition sheet ready to write your petition on.
• pen
• incense of your choice, try frankincense or sandalwood
• Your choice of several of the following herbs; oak leaf or acorn, basil, bay, vetiver, patchouli, chamomile, cinquefoil, marigold, sunflower, st. johns wort, any herb corresponding with your specific success goal
• lighter or matches and a fireproof dish
• your favorite success oil or olive oil
• gold, yellow, or white square of fabric about 4x4 inches
• green or gold ribbon

Find a quiet place where you can be alone to work your magic, if you can do it outdoors under the moon all the better, but if you can't indoors is fine.  Light the incense and take some time to ground and center, cast your circle and summon the elements and the God and Goddess as you usually do.

Anoint your forehead with success oil (or olive oil) by using a drop of oil on your finger, marking your forehead from the center of eyebrows straight up, then directly above both eyebrows. put a drop of oil in your palm and rub palms together vigorously.  Light your candle in it's jar holder and hold the jar before you and charge it using this charm,

"I call upon the Sun and Moon with power strong and bright,

With my magic I ask a boon that you may grant this night.

For I am as the mighty oak that stands within great power,

I know that create success as I begin this very hour."

Now charge the candle with your power as you focus upon your goal complete, do not visualize the path your success will take, but the completed goal.  For instance if you're goal is success finding a home, do not visualize looking for a home, but see yourself already moved into your dream home, your furniture already there, family around the table in a new dining room, etc.  

Once you have thoroughly charged your candle with your goal, set it down and surround it with the magical herbs you've chose from the list.  Take the pen and write clearly your goal for success upon the petition sheet provided on the printout sheet.  Now hold it up towards the moon and state the following,

Success shall be mine, I know it is true,

With all that I say and all that I do,

I carry my goal and I do my best,

I send it to you, may it manifest!

My power is strong, as sound as can be,

with harm to none, so mote it be!"

Now light the petition in the candles flame and allow it to burn, placing it carefully in the fireproof dish.  Now your intention has gone into the spirit realm where it may grow and manifest in the material realm.  Once the ashes have cooled, bundle them and the herbs into the fabric and tie it with the ribbon.  Leave it near your candle to continue charging it as it burns down, then you may leave the bundle where you will see it daily, or carry it with you as you go forth to make your success in the world!

Free Healing Candle Labels and Spells

Hi Dears,

Sometimes life is just hard.  This spring has been particularly difficult for many, and really for all of us, as we have seen political battles, human rights showdowns, natural disasters, misplaced hate, rage and anger.  A school shooting of unthinkable proportions in New Town started off our year and then we all watched two tragedies unfold in Boston at the Marathon and then just shortly after in Texas when a fertilizer plant exploded.  And of course we have to remember that it's not just here in the U.S., no, there are many parts of the world where oppression, abuse, and large scale violence are commonplace.  In all of the grief that we have all witnessed and felt, we have to remember something very important, even in the midst of some very bad things going on in the world, the power of good is still stronger.  The power of healing can move mountains.

My friend Blake Octavian Blair and I got to talking about the world’s events that have unfolded this spring.  I'm a Reiki Master and so is Blake, he also does a lot of Shamanic healing work too and studies Druidry with OBOD. We met online as so many people do these days, and found that we have a lot of things in common, we also are both contributors to the Llewellyn annuals and spend a decent amount of time writing about ways that people can improve their lives exploring the magical aspects of spirituality.  During the discussion we talked about how much it helps both of us to be able to send positive energy to world events.  It's the one thing that we can do as healers to contribute to the world.  It's also a great coping mechanism for those of us who tend to take these kind of events deeply to heart, and let's face it, that's a lot of us that do just that, I bet, Dear Reader, you do too!  Blake had seen some of my printable candle labels I make from my art and so Blake sent me a text one day suggesting that I create a candle label that people could use to send healing for all these current events that have hurt our hearts so deeply.  It was brilliant! Along with Blake's input, single label became a sheet of candle labels,  and we each wrote a spell to go along with them too with love and compassion for humankind.

In that spirit, it was also decided to share it freely with anyone and everyone who has the desire to send positive energy into the world.  We also decided to make the sheet non-specific to the current events and people in need of healing during this tumultuous spring, because there would always be events, places and people in need of healing energy.  In this way, this candle sheet and these spells may be used today and on into the future whenever you or others have need.  For safety, be sure to use the labels only on jar candles, or jar candle holders; never affix a candle label to the wax candle itself, as it could catch on fire.  Also burn your candles according to the candle instructions and never leave a burning candle unattended.  Use these spells as they are written, or as inspiration for creating your own spell for sending healing into the world.

Send Love Rippling Out Spell, Llewellyn Spell-A -Day

Today's entry in the Llewellyn's Witches' Spell-A-Day Almanac is my spell for sending love rippling out into every aspect of your life!  It's quite a simple meditation spell, but when I field tested this one, it actually delivered some wonderfully positive results.  You see what you send out, really does return to you in the most lovely ways!

I did this spell this morning at my old wooden art table.
I added a pink candle to my lotus candle holder, some lavender,
a globe, and my little Quan Yin statue, the Goddess of compassion.

There are many more kinds of love in the world that romantic love, love for all mankind is the focus of this spell.  I personally just got a new granddaughter the other day so working this spell is easy for me right now because I'm all full of fuzzy happy thoughts.

Sometimes the best time to do this spell might be when you're not really feeling the love so much.  When life seems to be getting you down, sending love rippling out can be more of a challenge, but if you can make it work, the results will ripple back and change your perspective, and after all, being happy is often just a matter of perspective.

International Woman's Day: You Are Goddess!

Today is International Woman's Day, so what does that mean to us?

Here's the scoop; International Woman's Day has been around since the early 1900's and became very popular during the Women's Suffrage Movement and has grown and grown ever since.  This day has become a global day of celebration as well as recognition of women's achievements and an opportunity to shine a light on ways to further equality for women all over the world.  Today we see women achieving their dreams, they have become leaders, medical professionals, scientists, they run companies and have even flown to the stars!  Just this year, the US military officially opened combat positions to women soldiers, a role they've been fulfilling in an unofficial capacity until recently, but may now do some with the proper recognition. Today's women can find success and balance between all the aspects of their lives, with all the grace of the Goddesses that they are!

Today's "Be The Goddess" Spell

We must always remember that there are still many inequalities for women left to be reconciled.  We remember the women of the past who fought so desperately for fair working conditions, a fair wage, and the right to vote.  We see women fighting still today to end violence against women, equal pay, and education both in this country and around the world.  We shine a powerful beacon upon the ignorance of the uninformed and misguided, refusing them the power to run our lives for us.  We realize that women and girls still have battles to face, but when we look back and see how far we've come, and remember the plight of the strong brave women that came before us, we realize that we can do anything we dream, and ladies, do we dream big!
